We pretend to be doctors and patients!

This week we’ve been working on the subject of “aches” in our First Year Complementary subject. The teacher posed an activity which involved using flashcards to connect an ache (for example: a headache) with the advice a doctor would give a patient (for example: take a pill). Afterwards the teacher put us into pairs and she gave us badges to show who was the doctor and who was the patient. We then practiced the conversation which the teacher had shown us in pairs. Lastly, we stood in front of the class and performed a role-play in a doctor’s surgery, pretending to be a doctor or a patient.

We go shopping!

In Second Year we are learning how to politely ask for and give food using “please” and how to ask how much items cost. To put all this into practice the teacher gave us a piece of card with 8 food items on it and we had to price each one. After, we had to write a short shopping list, choosing 4 items out of the 8. We then did a short role-play with half the class as shopkeepers and the other half as customers. The customers had to go to different shops and buy the items from their list, using the conversation we had practiced earlier with the teacher. Afterwards we swapped roles.

We make up and produce our own recipe!

Taking advantage of the fact that in Second Year we are working on food, the teacher suggested we make up a recipe of our own at home, and we loved the idea! First of all we worked on an example with the teacher in class and then all of us worked together to create a recipe which we then drew. That really helped us to be able to create our own recipe at home with our families – here are the results! We have some brilliant cooks in our class!
